If you’re not familiar with WordPress, it is a blogging/website framework that drives over a quarter of the websites on the internet today.

We use WordPress for all of our website projects and our clients love how easy it is to use. Not to mention the customization and scalability of WordPress allows businesses to grow into useful website features and addons.

Here are some of the highlights from WordPress 4.7 “Vaughan” update:

New Default Theme – Twenty Seventeen

This theme looks pretty sharp and is designed to provide a business look and feel to your site. With so many of the default themes geared for bloggers, this is a welcome change to the theme lineup.

Video Header Support

Video headers have become pretty popular in the realm of website design lately. It’s a really neat effect and can give a static brochure site a lot of punch. This feature is a huge upgrade and will help the default WordPress themes to feel less…. default.

Sample Content Provided

While we always start from scratch when designing WordPress websites, this feature allows you to use sample content to get you started. It’s much harder to start with a blank canvas, so this definitely makes it easy to get over the creative hump and get started on content right away.

PDF Media Previews

This is really helpfull. If your site offers a lot of downloadable content in the form of PDFs, you will now be able to see a preview of the first page. Even small changes like these add to the overall awesomeness of WordPress.

Here are some of the additional features included in this update we are excited to see.

  • Edit shortcut icons in the preview mode
  • Custom CSS in live preview mode
  • Admin language control
  • Post and page editor improvements
  • Post type templates
  • Rest API content endpoints (good news for developers)
  • Locale switching
  • Accessible Alt text for images

If you want to catch up on all the changes, head over to the official WordPress 4.7 page.

REMEMBER! Be sure to backup your site before making any changes or updates. We occasionally see plugin and theme conflicts when we make big updates like these for our clients. If you run into any issues, leave us a comment below or just get in touch. Your website is crucial to your business. It generates leads, customers and revenue (or at least it should). It’s a channel through which customers, prospects, suppliers, potential new staff and partners will find and engage you… and judge you for that matter.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”20″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
